Dr. Givi studies consumer behavior, with a focus on consumer decision making in the context of gift purchases. Dr. Givi is one of the most well-published scholars in gift giving in the world. Beyond gift giving, Dr. Givi studies judgment and decision making, invitation psychology, self-other decision-making, AI psychology, loyalty programs, charitable giving, awards, and uncertainty, among other topics.

Dr. Givi has published papers in many of the leading journals in marketing and psychology, including the Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of the Association for Consumer Research, Journal of Business Research, Psychology & Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, Marketing Letters, Current Directions in Psychological Science, and PLOS One. He has also presented his research at the top conferences in the field, including the annual meetings of the Association for Consumer Research, Society for Consumer Psychology, and Society for Judgement and Decision Making.
